Get to know the Guide

Fish on the Fly is a veteran-Owned fishing guide service owned by me, Eric Fisher. I feel as if my last name is not only suiting but also aligned with some sort of destiny. I was raised in a family of outdoor enthusiasts, however I’m the one who really caught the bug and got hooked on fishing. I started fishing young in ponds and local creeks. I received my first flyrod and lessons from my grandfather around 10 years old. I joined the Marine corps out of high school. During this time I spent a lot of time near water but unfortunately not fishing. I was Deployed on a Navy Ship travelling the worlds Oceans. My second deployment was in the Helmand River providence of Afghanistan. Being through so much at a young age, the one thing I could always count on was the brotherhood and comradery of the Marines. Once I was out and away from buddies I needed something to turn to.

This is where I turned to Fishing. No matter what problems I was facing, I was able to let them drift away with the currents at my feet. The curiosity of what’s within the depths of the waters had me thinking less about my problems, and more of what’s around the next bend in the River. Through the art of Fly fishing I have been able to participate in many Veteran organizations designed to help Veterans in heeling, finding comradery, and connecting with nature in such a way that you’re able to find a purpose again. Many of these organizations I am able to guide currently. I feel as if its my own responsibility to pass those same passions to others and Fish on the Fly allows that all to be possible.
